Spring 2022 Calls for Applications

We are excited to announce our newest round of opportunities for Princeton affiliates. We hope you will apply!

Research Partnerships (deadline: March 1)

We seek curious, experimental scholars to collaborate on our new Research Partnership grants. Faculty from any discipline are welcome to propose small-scale projects that integrate methods, sources or critique from the humanities, the data-driven or computational sciences, and/or design. Applicants must propose an idea, problem or provocation that can be explored over the course of approximately 6 months. (Learn more.)

Data Fellowships (deadline: March 1)

For researchers with a clearly defined, well-scoped project and dataset.

We invite Princeton scholars interested in learning the analytical and technological practices of working with humanities data to apply for a 2022-23 Data Fellowship. Fellows learn best practices in data selection, structuring, cleaning, transformation, and preservation, with the aim of producing a dataset suitable for computational analysis, open-access publication, and future use in research and in undergraduate or graduate courses. Princeton faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students from any discipline are eligible. Graduate Fellowships (deadline: March 15)

For early to mid-stage graduate students, or those looking to learn about DH or workshop new project ideas with a community of peers.

The CDH Graduate Fellows program is designed to welcome graduate students into the community of Princeton DH researchers and introduce them to the broader landscape of DH. Over the course of the semester fellows will articulate research questions and identify goals for small-scale projects or components of larger projects (e.g. a dissertation). As a cohort, fellows will explore digital tools and methods that will benefit them over the course of their graduate careers. (Learn more.)

Humanities Data Teaching Fellowships (deadline: March 15)

For graduate students with little to no programming experience or data literacies who want to learn how to teach with a dataset they've identified from their field. These Fellows should be ready to teach soon.

Humanities Data Teaching Fellows will work with the Center for Digital Humanities to develop a course module that demonstrates data science methods using a humanities dataset. They will hone their curriculum development skills and apply their skills and training as humanists in innovative ways, either developing modules with a specific course in mind, or creating a module looking ahead to their own future teaching. Graduate Training Grants (rolling deadline)

For graduate students who would like to apply to attend in-person or virtual DH training workshops.

The CDH supports Princeton graduate students who would like to expand their knowledge of data-driven and computational approaches to the humanities by taking advantage of courses, workshops, summer schools, institutes or other training opportunities offered outside of Princeton. (Learn more.)
