Introducing the Machine Learning + Humanities Working Group

The first meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 27 at 12:30 pm. Please join us in person or on Zoom! Registration is required.
We are excited to announce a new addition to our working groups lineup: the Machine Learning + Humanities Working Group.
The Machine Learning + Humanities Working Group will bring together Princeton students and researchers interested in the intersection of machine learning and the humanities for informal lunches and discussions. Topics will range from natural language processing and literary texts, to computer vision and digital cultural heritage, to object detection models for reading historical newspapers.
The first working group meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 27, from 12:30-1:30 pm, both at the CDH (on B Floor of Firestone Library) and on Zoom. Conversation will center on the themes of the roundtable on Machine Predictions and Synthetic Text, which will have taken place the day before, on Tuesday, October 26, at 4:30 pm (register for the virtual roundtable).
Grant Wythoff (CDH) and Dan Friedman (COS) will facilitate Wednesday’s working group discussion.

Make sure to register in advance for the in-person working group meeting (capped at 20 attendees) or the Zoom option. Note that registration is limited to Princeton affiliates.
