The Center for Digital Humanities (CDH) is an interdisciplinary research center and academic unit affiliated with the Princeton University Library that combines technology, design, innovative methodology and humanistic scholarship. Staff members collaborate with faculty, students and library partners on digital humanities projects, teach undergraduate classes and hands-on workshops, conduct independent research, and host a variety of events.

The CDH seeks a Digital Humanities Strategist to help raise the level of digital humanities research, awareness, and integration at Princeton, and to promote the work of the CDH to the broader community.

The successful candidate is a dynamic digital humanities scholar who will enrich DH scholarship at Princeton and help shape the growth of CDH programs and projects. Reporting to the Assistant Director, the DH Strategist will work with faculty, graduate students, undergraduates, and members of the CDH team to carry out the mission of the Center. The DH Strategist will serve as the CDH liaison to data and computer science partners on collaborative programs and on integrating CDH-generated work into the Princeton curriculum. They will also serve as lead CDH consultant, overseeing and enriching the CDH consultations program. They will promote CDH programs on campus by speaking in academic departments, and will advise faculty on undergraduate course development. The DH Strategist may co-advise independent undergraduate work and teach or co-teach courses. When teaching, successful candidates will hold the secondary rank of Lecturer, and any teaching opportunities are subject to sufficient enrollments and the approval of the Dean of the Faculty. Successful candidates may serve as PI on research projects, subject to approval of the URB.

The DH Strategist will also play a role in broader CDH outreach. With input from the CDH team, the DH Strategist will oversee the CDH's general-audience publications on digital humanities research at Princeton. Along with CDH colleagues, the DH Strategist will present on CDH research and tool development at prominent professional venues and conferences.

As a member of the CDH staff, the DH Strategist will work in a collaborative, team-based environment. They are expected to contribute to the life of the Center by participating in team meetings and attending CDH events. The successful candidate is expected to maintain a robust DH research profile, and will have 20% R&D time to work on his/her own project, chosen in consultation with their supervisor.

Required qualifications

• PhD in the humanities, library sciences, social sciences, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience teaching in a university setting.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience with project management for academic research
• Experience with current technologies for digital scholarship and understanding of emergent best practices in the digital humanities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

Preferred qualifications

• Experience working with a nationally or internationally known digital humanities center or project
