Slavic DH Working Group Wins Grant from International Fund for Summer Digital Mapping Workshop

The Princeton Slavic DH Working Group, which promotes the exploration of digital humanities methods among scholars working in the Slavic, East European and Eurasian fields, has received a generous grant from the Princeton International Fund to send an interdisciplinary group to Germany this summer for a workshop called " Digitally Mapping Eastern Europe."

Nine Princeton scholars - including faculty, librarians, research specialists, graduate students and undergraduates - will attend a week-long workshop at the Herder Institute in Marburg, Germany for hands-on training in digital tools and archival materials, one-on-one project consultations, roundtable discussions, works-in-progress presentations, and tours of the Herder Institute collections.

The Herder Institute, part of the Leibniz Research Consortium, is a center of Eastern European Studies and digital history and home to significant archival collections, including newspaper clippings, maps, photographs, and postcards. Other Princeton support for the summer workshop comes from the Program in in Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies, the European Union Program, the Slavic Department, the Center for Digital Humanities, and the Princeton University Library.
