Once per semester, the Center for Digital Humanities invites proposals from members of the Princeton faculty, Princeton post-doctoral fellows, and Princeton graduate students for Seed Grants to support individual or collaborative research projects.

Seed Grants cover small-scale research projects up to $1,000. These grants are intended to support exploratory thinking and early-stage planning for projects that may eventually become CDH collaborations. These funds are not intended to support course-development, but may include support for small-scale text-encoding projects, geospatial encoding or analysis, topic modeling, corpus analysis, the creation or use of linked open data. This fund can also support meetings within departments to survey current projects and brainstorm graduate student and faculty initiatives. Purchase of appropriate equipment will be considered if applicants can demonstrate that they have explored and exhausted other resources on campus.

To apply for a seed grant, please send a brief (1-2 pages) description of the project and append a budget showing the costs of the project and indicating other funds received and other sources applied to. For graduate student requests a brief note of endorsement from the student’s adviser is required.

Please keep an eye on our blog and newsletter for updates about upcoming deadlines. You can send applications and direct questions to Cliff Wulfman (cwulfman@princeton.edu) at the Center for Digital Humanities.
