DESCRIPTION:\n\n  The Humanities Council\, in collaboration with the Princ
 eton Humanities Initiative\, presents the 20th annual Humanities Colloquiu
 m on Thursday\, September 10 at 4:30 pm in the Princeton University Art Mu
 seum Grand Hall. This year’s event features distinguished Princeton scho
 lars who will explore the theme\, “Communities in the Making.”Speakers
  include Devin Fore (German)\, Katja Guenther (History)\, Brooke Holmes (C
 lassics)\, and Beth Lew-Williams (History). The panel will discuss how com
 munities of thought and experience are made and undone\, what conditions t
 heir survival or disappearance over time\, and how exclusion and othering 
 become a corollary to belonging.The four speakers will examine communities
  that are formed through political passions (Fore)\, family care and commu
 nal traditions (Guenther)\, networks of sympathy (Holmes)\, and legal syst
 ems of alienage and citizenship (Lew-Williams).The conversation\, open to 
 the University community\, will be moderated by Council Chair Esther Schor
