Syriac Transcribathon 2024

The Princeton MARBAS initiative and the ERC MiDRASH project are organizing a four day Syriac Transcribathon workshop. Our goal is to produce data to be used for improving automated handwritten text recognition (HTR) for manuscripts written in the Syriac language.

No prior technical experience is necessary: the workshop will provide training for both new and more advanced users of the eScriptorium HTR platform. We will explore both standard HTR tasks (page segmentation and text transcription) and newer techniques taking advantage of automated alignments.
